St. John's Sunrise
The St. John’s Bridge is one of the most famous landmarks in Portland, Oregon. I truly believe that it is a Portland Photographers Dream. It can be photographed from so many angles that one can revisit it many times without getting bored. It has eastern and western facing views for sunrise and sunset photography and all the lines of the road and the bridge make it easy to create depth.
On this morning me and my counterpart Photozulu trekked out to the West Side of the bridge road shortly before sunset with the goal of catching a sunburst on the bridge as the sun rose up over the horizon. We were in for a treat because not only did the sun rise in a perfect alignment for a sunburst through the bridge, but the clouds behind the bridge lit up with a fabulous warm color. From the blue sky at the top of the photo to the light kissing the north side of the bridge, everything about this image is perfect to me and it is everything that I look for in a photograph.
I have photographed the St. John’s Bridge dozens of times from all sorts of angles. If you’re interested in coming away from a photoshoot with an image like this, look in to booking a workshop on my classes and lessons page.
I would be so honored if you purchased a piece of my art for your home or office. Please email me if you have any questions.
